Course Title : Sonic Sanctuary: Expressing Yourself Through Music Class length : 5 consecutive weeks. Class price : $150 per student (Charging $30 per student per class) Meets: Wednesdays, 6pm-7pm, July 22 thru August 19. Minimum to run class : 4 students Course Description : A 5-Week Live Online Music Journey for Adults. Bring your instrument, your voice, and your love of music to the Sonic Sanctuary, a welcoming gathering for adult musicians to listen, learn and play together. Unlock your unique voice and discover new paths to personal wellness through the power of music. This interactive, 5-week online course is designed specifically for adults looking to use music as a tool for emotional expression, stress relief, and creative growth. No advanced musical training is required—just an open mind and a desire to connect. Each week, we will gather live on Zoom. Every session begins with a short lecture exploring a specific musical style, its cultural history, and how it can be used for self-expression. Then, we will transition into a safe, live collaborative space where you will practice these techniques in real time. This 5-week live, online course helps students unlock their unique voice by exploring five distinct musical styles. Each week features an opening lecture on the history, cultural context, and technical execution of a specific style, followed by live, interactive exercises designed to help students confidently express their emotions. Week 1: The Blues – Phrasing, Emotion, & Form Week 2: Jazz – Freedom, Improvisation, Connection and Musical Conversation. Week 3: Folk/Singer-Songwriter - Storytelling & Vulnerability. Week 4: Rhythm & Blues (R&B) – Groove, Soul, & Vocal Expression. Week 5: Rock and Roll - Energy & Rebellion. Course Logistics ● Platform: Live via Zoom ● Requirements: Any instrument of your choice or simply your own singing/speaking voice. A reliable internet connection and a quiet space are recommended.
